You Shall Be Haunted By Three Spirits. A Christmas classic, illuminated by candlelight — adapted by and starring Robert Tremayne as Ebenezer Scrooge, with Dionysus favourites and the Muses of Dionysus.
It is Christmas Eve, and for Ebenezer Scrooge, the season is little more than an unwelcome interruption. But a ghostly warning from his former business partner, Jacob Marley, sets him on an extraordinary journey through time.
Guided by the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Be — faces from his own life, rather than strangers — Scrooge is drawn back through the rooms of his past and forward into the lonely future that awaits if nothing changes. Along the way, he must confront the choices he has made, the people he has hurt, and the possibility that even the hardest heart can change.
Robert Tremayne adapts Dickens' beloved classic and leads Dionysus Theatre's ensemble as Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside Dionysus favourites Lauren Whedbee as Mrs Cratchit and Kelly Verstappen as Jacob Marley. Directed by Vicky Newman, the production also features her as Old Sal and Rose; the remaining roles are brought to life by the Muses of Dionysus.
Staged entirely by candlelight and underscored by Victorian carols, A Christmas Carol by Candlelight is a haunting, heart-warming and hopeful festive experience for audiences of all ages.
